Speaker A:

We cannot hear God's voice if we're not creating or making time for God.

Speaker A:

You intentionally, you're going to set this time and create this time for God.

Speaker A:

Let's make no more excuses.

Speaker A:

You've tried to hear God's voice, but instead it's silence.

Speaker A:

You've found that it's really hard to hear his voice.

Speaker A:

Hearing God's voice can be challenging and a struggle.

Speaker A:

I struggled hearing his voice for the longest time.

Speaker A:

In today's episode, I'm talking about the truth behind hearing God's voice, what that really looks like, especially in the thick of busy motherhood.

Speaker A:

I'll walk you through three practical steps that you can start doing today to create that intentional time with the Lord.

Speaker A:

So you're not just fitting him in, but you're actually hearing him speak into your life.

Speaker A:

Whether you're in a season of calm or chaos, this episode will help you move from spiritual frustration to clarity and peace.

Speaker A:

Grab your notebook and pen and let's dive in.

Speaker B:

Are you ready to break free from feeling stuck, gain clarity and take intentional steps towards discovering your unique purpose, all while following God's guidance to become the.

Speaker A:

Person that he created you to be?

Speaker B:

If so, you are in the right place.

Speaker B:

Hi, I'm Michelle, a mom, wife, Catholic discernment mentor and spiritual coach.

Speaker B:

I've been where you are, feeling lost and uncertain about my purpose.

Speaker A:

But through a Catholic based strategy of.

Speaker B:

Discernment, I found clarity, confidently embraced my calling and learned to hear God's voice in my life.

Speaker B:

And now I want to help you do the same.

Speaker B:

Grab your pen, get your notebook and get comfy.

Speaker B:

Open your heart and mind and invite God in.

Speaker B:

It's time to ignite your purpose and start living the life God created you for.

Speaker B:

Let's do this.

Speaker A:

Hearing God's voice, it can be challenging and a struggle.

Speaker A:

I struggled hearing his voice for the longest time.

Speaker A:

I read books, I watched YouTube videos from Catholic priests.

Speaker A:

I tried journaling and forcing myself to hear his voice, saying I'm going to journal and he's going to show up and he's going to talk to me and I'm going to hear that voice and that voice is going to sound like a human voice, someone else that sounds like a human.

Speaker A:

But that's actually not how that actually happens.

Speaker A:

Because as we know, God is a gentleman.

Speaker A:

He will not force Himself in.

Speaker A:

We need to take steps to help us to hear his voice.

Speaker A:

And we know that God's voice is not going to sound like a human voice per se when he is speaking to us.

Speaker A:

So I hear from other Catholic women like myself, struggling to hear God's voice.

Speaker A:

And that's why I feel like this topic is important.

Speaker A:

I go over three practical steps that you can start today so that you can hear God's voice.

Speaker A:

Let's face it, we must hear God's voice in order for him to guide us in life.

Speaker A:

Especially when it comes to discerning his plans and his purpose for us.

Speaker A:

Uniquely so the first thing that you can do is block off time for God.

Speaker A:

We cannot hear God's voice if we're not creating or making time for God.

Speaker A:

You intentionally, you set this time.

Speaker A:

You, you create this time for God.

Speaker A:

Let's make no more excuses.

Speaker A:

Don't wait until you in quotation fine time.

Speaker A:

Let's make time.

Speaker A:

Schedule it in your calendar just like any other important appointment.

Speaker A:

And remember, let's treat it like you would a doctor tax appointment.

Speaker A:

Because I know if you create a tax appointment or your doctor's appointment when you're really sick, you're not going to cancel that appointment.

Speaker A:

You're going to honor it and, and you're going to go to that appointment.

Speaker A:

So you want to treat your time with God as an important appointment.

Speaker A:

Put it in your paper planner, your Google Calendar, or whatever you make and put your appointments at.

Speaker A:

Set an alarm or a notification for a reminder and hold yourself accountable.

Speaker A:

This will help with calendar integrity and appointment integrity.

Speaker A:

We don't want to just simply hit the snooze button.

Speaker A:

We do what we say we will do.

Speaker A:

So when you put it in your calendar, wherever that is, your Google Calendar, your paper planner, or your reminder, and it pops up and it lets you know that, hey, this time I said I'm going to spend this time with God, that you honor that.

Speaker A:

And you do that.

Speaker A:

You intentionally set this time for, and you create this time for God.

Speaker A:

So now let's do it.

Speaker A:

This will help you also build the habit of routine, and it'll help you create that time for God.

Speaker A:

And it's not just about a routine.

Speaker A:

It's also about that integrity and, and honoring your commitment.

Speaker A:

And the second thing that you can do is to find space where you hear God's voice.

Speaker A:

You want to choose a space in your home that invites stillness and allow you to hear God's voice.

Speaker A:

This space can be in your house where no one is at, that you only dedicate to your time.

Speaker A:

When you're with God, it may be a space that's not being used that you can utilize that space and set up.

Speaker A:

I've seen different ones do like A little chair and a little desk.

Speaker A:

And they have, you know, their Bible and all their stuff there ready to go.

Speaker A:

And I've seen some take and create it like a little altar right there.

Speaker A:

However you want to do this, speak to God.

Speaker A:

You can even ask him like or the Holy Spirit to guide you.

Speaker A:

Like, how do you want me set this place?

Speaker A:

Like, where do you want me to spend this set this time?

Speaker A:

The space where I can hear your voice and it might be your bed before your feet hit the floor or the couch in the early morning or a quiet corner at night.

Speaker A:

From my personal experience, I say my morning prayers before I even get out of bed.

Speaker A:

My time with God is my priority.

Speaker A:

And so before my feet hit the floor, I'm already saying my prayers.

Speaker A:

And this is the time where I'm the most quietest calm.

Speaker A:

Peace, no any distractions from the day distracting me and like making myself worry.

Speaker A:

Like, oh, I need to do this, I need to do this, I need to do this and I can't sit down.

Speaker A:

So when I wake up for sing, I get my app and I start doing my, my morning prayer routine that I have set.

Speaker A:

And this also for you.

Speaker A:

Maybe a couch in the early hour morning before your family wakes up.

Speaker A:

Or it could be a heading off to bed, it could be part of your evening routine.

Speaker A:

Whatever it is, just make it a quiet, cozy and distraction free so that you can give God your full attention.

Speaker A:

And then number three, go and prepare.

Speaker A:

So you want to go into your time that you've blocked off and your space that you already dedicated with God when you're already prepared.

Speaker A:

So preparation.

Speaker A:

This will help you save time as a busy mom and help you go deeper, faster and help you to go in prepared.

Speaker A:

This could be deciding the night before.

Speaker A:

Wait a minute there.

Speaker A:

This, this could be to go in prepared, you need to decide the night before on how you will spend your time with Him.

Speaker A:

Will it be just saying traditional prayers?

Speaker A:

Will it be having a heart to heart with God and having that conversation with Him?

Speaker A:

Then what do you want to speak to him about that's on your heart?

Speaker A:

Will you be reading scripture and reflecting?

Speaker A:

Then you want to write those items down that you'll be discussing with him on your journal or piece of paper and just pick out what you'll be reading and reflecting on in your Bible and write that down.

Speaker A:

You can also write down what you'll say or read and this eliminates time, searching and stalling.

Speaker A:

So as you go prepared, you already know what you're doing.

Speaker A:

You're not getting to your space.

Speaker A:

And then you're wasting time because you're like, what do I want to do?

Speaker A:

I want to do traditional prayers.

Speaker A:

Do I want to have a, have heart to heart conversation?

Speaker A:

And that is prayer.

Speaker A:

When we do have a heart to heart conversation.

Speaker A:

Or are you wanting to do a scripture reading and reflect?

Speaker A:

Or maybe you have time to do all three.

Speaker A:

Maybe it's just time for two.

Speaker A:

You need to decide that before and write it down.

Speaker A:

Write down what type of prayer you're going to do.

Speaker A:

Whether it's traditional, that heart to heart conversation or your scripture and your reading and reflecting on His Word.

Speaker A:

Like I said, this will allow you to be efficient and you're maximizing your time in the best beneficial way because you're not wasting time trying to search if it is for scripture reading going, huh, what is it going to be?

Speaker A:

And you could also have your Bible maybe laid out and have, have it open.

Speaker A:

Or if you have a book ribbon in your Bible, like both of my Bibles that I use that I go between, they have the ribbon and you can already pre mark it.

Speaker A:

So that way you open it up, there's your scripture that you're reading and reflecting on.

Speaker A:

And here's a little spiritual insight that I heard this from a priest and I'm not sure which one it is.

Speaker A:

Maybe it was Father Mike Schmitz.

Speaker A:

I listened to several Catholic priests, but this kind of helped shift my whole mindset.

Speaker A:

And they basically said, as we spend time in prayer in this world, we are preparing ourselves for the next world.

Speaker A:

That really, you know, stuck with me.

Speaker A:

If we aren't making time for him now, how will we be prepared to spend eternity with him?

Speaker A:

Because in heaven we are in constant communion with God.

Speaker A:

We're praising, we're adoring, we're loving.

Speaker A:

And if we're spending time in purgatory before our final judgment, we are purifying ourselves through prayer to be made holy in his presence.

Speaker A:

So let's use this time on earth to prepare for eternity.

Speaker A:

Starting with those simple daily moments of prayer.

Speaker A:

Let's quickly review what we cover today.

Speaker A:

You wanna put on your calendar, you wanna set an alarm, and you wanna keep that appointment.

Speaker A:

The second thing you can do is create a space where you'll be still and truly listening to God's voice.

Speaker A:

Have that space already.

Speaker A:

Pick determined.

Speaker A:

And the third thing, you want to come prepared so that you can make the most of your time that you have.

Speaker A:

Let us pray.

Speaker A:

In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Lord Jesus, thank you for the beautiful woman listening today.

Speaker A:

Thank you for her heart that desires you even in the busyness of her motherhood.

Speaker A:

Give her the strength and discipline to prioritize her time with you, the wisdom to find that sacred space and the grace to come prepared, not out of obligation, but from a heart of love.

Speaker A:

Draw near to her Lord Jesus as she draws nearer to you.

Speaker A:

In your holy name we pray.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Knowledge is power, but true change happens when we pair it with that consistent daily action.

Speaker A:

We cannot gain clarity if we're not taking daily action to help us move forward.

Speaker A:

And you can get this started today by writing in your planner or your journal.

Speaker A:

How will you be spending time with God this week?

Speaker A:

Be specific, what time, where and what you'll be doing.

Speaker A:

And then put that on your calendar and simply show up.

Speaker A:

Show up for yourself.

Speaker A:

Show up as a promise and a commitment to God and let's start making prayer a daily habit even in our busy season.

Speaker A:

I’m Michelle Brannam, a Catholic discernment mentor and spiritual growth coach with a passion for deepening my faith and growing spiritually. For years, I lived the way the secular world told me I should, but I still felt unfulfilled. I found myself lost, stuck, and questioning my purpose. In my search for answers, I turned to the internet, hoping to discover what my true purpose was.

I eventually realized that the advice on finding purpose circulating on the internet and social media was missing something essential: God and Catholic teachings. So, I created a plan to help me discover and discern God's unique purpose for my life. It’s a simple, Catholic-based strategy with incremental steps designed to unlock clarity that guided me forward on my journey. Rooted in Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, brain science, and proven methods from the personal development field, all on a foundation of the Catholic faith, this approach has transformed my life. No longer do I feel lost, stuck, or without purpose. Instead, I am confident in my unique calling, as God continues to guide me toward His plans for me.

I’m excited to share this journey with you so you too can experience fulfillment, joy, and peace as you discern God's unique purpose for your life.
